prad and the aviva open singapore 2007
Hey there. Just in case you're under the impression that I'm gripped by some sudden spasm of literary madness let me make clear that the last entry wasn't typed by my hands. Nuff' said. Now that thats been mentioned let me move on to the entry.
I had the privilege of being at the indoor stadium yesterday to watch the Aviva Open. (my uncle managed to get me season tickets) If you play badminton, thought about playing badminton or have otherwise simply just touched someone elses badminton racket before you would have been blown away by the standard of badminton being displayed. You don't even have to understand the game I think, to appreciate the atheleticism that goes into every shot, every deliberate flick of the wrist and every lunge for the shuttle. I was really kept of the edge of my seat throughout the whole five hours of the tournament yesterday (ok, with the exception of ronald susilo's match, which I didn't bother to follow because it was clear he wasn't bothering to play well either. I instead went to shake Peter Gade's hand and tell him that I thought the Singapore line judges were all blind monkeys)
As a badminton enthusiast I was taken in by the atmosphere just upon entering the indoor stadium. Kendrick Lee was walking around the Yonex shop half heartedly looking through the numerous badminton shirts on display. I considered going up to him and saying, "well done in beating the world number 3 man" but I was afraid I had recognised him wrongly because I wasn't sure too sure if he was kendrick lee at all (eh, badminton stars aren't really celebrities you know). I mean, it would really suck if he happened to be chen jin, the world number 3 who had just been outed. But just as I turned to walk away 2 girls squealed, "kendrick kendrick!!" and proceeded to take photos. Soon he was swarmed by girls asking for photos and autographs. So much for not being celebrities.
I think theres no real need to describe the matches in detail but just trust me when I say that the Peter Gade, Chen Yu match alone was worth the ticket. Pity that Gade lost though. I think a combination of nerves, bad line calls and inhuman reflexes on the part of Chen Yu were just too much for him to overcome. But Gade is still, in my opinion, the epitome of deceptive badminton. I must admit I was disappointed also when Gunawan and Wijaya fell to the world number one's Fu and Cai. Another disappointment was when Susilo was taken to badminton school by the Thai Giant killer, the unseeded Boonsak Ponsana (the fella eliminated Lin Dan, the reigning king of singles badminton).
After badminton I went to meet Wai and Yin Har at the Crystal Jade La Mien Xiao Long Bao at Taka. We quickly went on to order quite abit cos we were all starving. 2 bowls of La Mien, 2 baskets of Xiao Long Bao (it is the best xiao long bao in singapore I kid you not) and this Pork Ribs with ginger thing. The food was really good and it didn't really burn a whole in the pocket. (the whole meal only came out to about 40 bucks) After that we made our way to clarke quay for some dessert at Riccioti! I've always wanted to wax lyrical about how orgamiscally good the desserts are there but yesterday the service was crap. So I shall refrain from commenting. Oh well. I can't wait for the finals of the Aviva Singapore Open tomorrow. Till the next post, ciao.

prad and the nothing
Hi
There is nothing to say. *nods head* *shakes leg*
That's quite obscene.
I have a lot of pimples. Me, Xiao Yi and Charlie are gonna kill, murder, dismember and otherwise kill the makers of brown camo paint.
Xiao Yi probably can't read this entry cos his eyes are swollen over. And Charlie will be too busy to read this entry. Yeah. I said Ya.
I am in NTU right now. It's nice. *high 5*
There's girls running around in fbts. Really short fbts. Like my kind of short fbts.
It's nice.
I like to drink mug. But I really shouldn't.
I'm on a diet you see. My lower half is becoming a bit too womanly. *nods head*
Somebody banged my car the other day and Yichuen flew from the backseat to the front. My father yelled at me. And today i returned the favour. I clipped this car as i was coming out of the multi-story carpark. I thought no one would see but the guy making out inside that car saw. He and his girlfriend were very displeased. But they soon resumed what they were doing. Even though his front license plate was not where it was before he entered the car.
My body shape is so weird. My butt is so big, like Queen Latifah's.
The end.

prad and the prom
Remember this scene? You're looking for nice clothes to buy but you just can't seem to find something that you like. The choice colour is always too unappealing, the material perpetually too uncomfortable or worse, the price tag is so hefty you'd have to strike 4D to not file for bankruptcy upon leaving the store. Then you think. Ok. I have a clothes hanger in my hand. Maybe I just club the unassuming salesguy in front of me and make a run for it. Ah. Sounds like a plan.
Then you realise to your dismay that prom is in a couple of days. No time to stage elaborate heists and what not. Just find something, buy it and scoot on outta there. Deja Vu? Not so. Yes kids, I am going for prom. Again. Anyways this entry marks a return to my posting ways, seeing as how my vocation in the army is pending and that I have too much free time on my hands (but don't tell the warrant officers). I'll come up with something more substantial in the coming days I guess. Till then, NJC Prom 06' here I come!

prad and the passing out paradeWow.. Pretty hard to imagine that 9 weeks ago when I last wrote an entry here I was still enjoying life as a civilian. Now 9 weeks later when I look back in retrospect I am full of envy. Don't get me wrong though, the responsibility of defending this tiny red island as a full time national serviceman has not put me off entirely - in fact I am thoroughly honoured to have taken up this sacred responsibility.. yet nonetheless I miss the many freedoms that constitute civilian life. On April 8th, I was a Recruit of the Singapore Armed Forces (although recruit seems to be the wrong word seeing as how I wasn't 'recruited' out of a selfless desire to partake in national service but instead conscripted as per the national service act). Just 9 weeks ago I was an ill disciplined, very out of shape, irresponsible young boy.
Now, 9 weeks or so later, I am a Private of the Singapore Armed Forces. I am a trained soldier who can, if need be, be called upon to bear arms in defense of this country. I dare say that in this short time I have learnt to become a more disciplined and certainly in some aspects much more responsible young man. And yes, I have become much fitter (always a good thing).
Obviously its tremendously hard to compress all the experiences and memories of my 9 weeks into this feeble blog entry - but it goes without saying that these 9 weeks have had a very profound impact on my life. I've met many different kinds of people. I've learnt to never judge a book by its cover. There were those who were incredibly physically fit but mentally they would crumble under adversity, there were those who would seem selfless and caring outwardly but deep inside them grew the seeds of selfishness and hate (the army just calls them wayang, which is really much easier to say) also those who were thoroughly negative. There were also the quiet unassuming fellows who would take so much and still smile and also those who regardless of how tired and beat down they were would still say "thats it?". I can only hope that I belonged to the last group.
Now all that awaits is posting to another school of military training which is coming up this weekend. Till then. Ciao.

prad and enlistment dayIts finally time. After 3 months of waiting, the army has finally come to claim me. See you guys soon.
The Perishers - Sway
I talk to you as to a friend
I hope that’s what you’ve
come to be
It feels as though we’ve
made amends
Like we found a way
eventually
It was you who picked
the pieces up
When I was a broken soul
And then glued me
back together
Returned to me what
others stole
I don’t wanna hurt you
I don’t wanna make you sway
Like I know I’ve done before
I will not do it anymore
I’ve always been a dreamer
I've had my head among
the clouds
Now that I’m coming down
Won’t you be my solid ground?
I look at you and see a friend
I hope that’s what you wanna be
Are we back now where
it all began?
Have you finally forgiven me?
You gathered my dreams in
When they all blew away
And then tricked them
back into me
You saved me I was
almost dead

prad and the queenstown badminton gang
From Left: Ben, Chris, Pradeep (most handsome in the middle), Louis, Marcus
It was great playing badminton with you guys at the old Queenstown CC over the past few weekends (and sometimes weekdays too). Too bad army had to come along and throw a wrench in our plans eh? haha. Most of the dudes there are going in April 7th/8th so I suppose its fitting to say - till we meet again, in Tekong.
//General Shoutouts//
1. Ms Lang! Things are going swimmingly. Just getting some stuff in order before the goverment finally conscripts me. I'm eager to finally see first hand what all the guys around me keep talking about. haha. But thanks alot fer the tag. Appreciate it. You take care too ya? Talk to you soon.
2. Honestly Shaun, the only thing I am prepared for is to go in there and get f*cked. Anyways we all go in unprepared! Thats the point dude. haha. I wanna see some JC student go there uber blur and get a blanket party from the poly guys. haha. (mental note: do not be the JC student)
3. I'm sure he did Ming, haha. Anyways thanks fer the tag. =) I'll try to keep updating on weekends but I'm not too sure also. Most of the jan batch guys spent their first few weekends catching up on sleep so I'm guessing it'll be the same for me. But we'll see how la. Anyways 2 more days. Woo. Nervous anticipation. haha.
4. Heng and Howie. See you gays in Tekong. haha. April 8th!
5. Matthew I realised CCU hasn't updated my link, I'll go change it myself, I have access to the blog. haha. I'll link you up asap man.
6. Emmi remember! The less you wear... the more you need NAIR! kk, don't tell tzewei I said that. haha. Anyways I don't suppose I'll be doing much clubbing for some time. But see how la! If your fella wants to go maybe we can all go sometime.

prad and the kinky advertisementWas feeling bored so I deceided to Google "Pradeep Nair" and "Nair". Much to my amusement, 2 things came to my attention. Firstly, this blog can be reached by googling "Pradeep Nair". The second thing I came across? This you have to see fer yourself. I find the tagline in the main flash quite hilarious.
